Catch Reports Spring Summer '05
Saturday April 25th
Saturday April 25th saw a group of four anglers from Dublin on the Kingfisher. We headed towards Inis Bofin and drifted over a mark just south of the island. Pollack to 6lbs and Whiting were plentiful. Feathers and lures proved the best option for Pollack, Ling and Mackeral. A detour to deep ground NW of Inishbofin wasn’t as lucrative as hoped and it was on the way back from this mark where the fun really began. Drifting just north of ‘Bofin with Inis turk as a backdrop we caught fine Pollack to 7lbs, sometimes 3 at a time, Mackeral and some Whiting. Feathers again proved to be the killer bait and outperformed the perks and Power baits.
Sunday April 26th saw the Kingfisher with a party of German anglers on board enjoy a fine days angling. Ling to 6lbs, pollack to 5lbs and Mackeral again obliged.
Monday 27th. We had 8 dutch anglers on board and fished west of Inisturk in fine, breezy conditions. The fish of the day was a 10lb Ling which fell to a Mackeral strip. Bottom fishing for Ray and Skate produced a couple of fish and there were Pollack to 7lbs.
Wednesday 29th saw four local anglers take the Kingfisher north of ‘Bofin and off Inisturk where we had great sport with Ling, Pollack and Whiting providing the entertainment.
Monday May 3rd and five German anglers were brought to Ballinakill just north of Cleggan for some bottom fishing. Skate and ray were proving elusive but there was fine Ling to be had. Pollack and mackeral were found to be feeding on Sandeels and mackeral strips, rubber eels and feathers were particularly effective. |
